Nicolas Folmer is a composer, artistic director, soloist, he is considered as one of the best jazz musicians of his generation. After he achieved his studies in the CNSM in Paris, he obtained the first prize and an award in composition.
From 1996 to 2000, he joined the "Orchestre National de Jazz", then founded with Pierre Bertrand the now wolrdwide known "Paris Jazz Big Band" . They composed and managed together the projects of the orchestra, praized by the critics. Nicolas founded afterwards the No Jazz band with Philippe Sellam, which associated jazz and electron music, and recorded an album produced by Teo Macero (the famous producer of Miles Davies, Duke Ellington) in New York.
Nicolas Folmer is regularly approached as a soloist by great artists and participates thus to many albums and tours, either as a soloist or an arranger; among them let's quote Dee Dee Bridgewater, Henry Salvador, Wynton Marsalis, Charles Aznavour, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole, Claude Nougaro, John Lewis, Georges Russell, Laurent Cugny, Ricardo del Fra, André Ceccarelli, Patrice Caratini, Louis Winsberg and Minimo Garay.
